Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) received accreditation from Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a body of international leaders in the field of microbial-pathogenic threat analysis, mitigation, response, and recovery, certifying that Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) implements best practices to prepare for, respond to, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur JAX Airport team has worked very diligently to meet and exceed GBAC\u2019s stringent criteria resulting in this coveted facility accreditation,\u201d said JAA CEO Mark VanLoh said. \u201cReceiving the GBAC accreditation is a monumental step toward a benchmark program of continuous improvement and sustainability, safeguarding the health of our passengers and employees into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers, and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,\u201d said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. \u201cBy taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Jacksonville Aviation Authority has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.\u201d<\/p>\n

To achieve GBAC STAR\u2122 accreditation, the JAA was required to demonstrate compliance with the program\u2019s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
