This morning <a href=\"http:\/\/aircanada.mediaroom.com\/index.php?s=43&amp;item=950\">Air Canada announced<\/a> nonstop service from JAX to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The new international flights are scheduled to start on May 21, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The flight will operate on Saturdays and Sundays. The inbound flight will depart Toronto at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Jacksonville at 11:40 a.m. The outbound flight will depart Jacksonville at 12:15 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 2:55 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Air Canada\u2019s announcement is exciting for a few reasons. For starters, it provides Canadian snow birds an opportunity to easily enjoy many of Northeast Florida\u2019s amenities during the winter &#8211; such as our many golf courses and sandy beaches.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, our region now has easy nonstop access to Canada and other international destinations. Catch a nonstop flight from YYZ, and you\u2019re one stop away <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontopearson.com\/en\/flights\/CanadianDestinations\/\">from 30 destinations<\/a> in Canada alone.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also worth noting that Air Canada doesn\u2019t currently serve JAX \u2013 they\u2019re the newest carrier to enter into the market. Within the last year, we\u2019ve also been able to recruit Allegiant Air to Jacksonville. If you have any familiarity with the airline industry in this age of consolidation, that\u2019s no small feat.<\/p>\n<p>And while the Toronto service will start as weekend-only, if the Jacksonville community embraces the flight and buys tickets, there\u2019s potential for more daily operations in the future.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, we\u2019re excited about today\u2019s announcement and look forward to Air Canada\u2019s inaugural YYZ flight.
