Southwest Airlines will begin nonstop service between Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) and Dallas Love Field (DAL) starting March 11, 2017, according to the carrier’s new schedule which published today. The flights will initially operate on Saturday and Sunday. Community support of the flight is important to ensure the flight’s success, with hopes to see Southwest increase the flights to daily service.
Here’s how the schedule breaks down:

Saturday
DAL     11:40 am     JAX     3:00 pm
JAX     3:30 pm      DAL     5:20 pm

Sunday
DAL      1:50 pm     JAX      5:00 pm
JAX      6:30 pm     DAL     8:25 pm

This will be Southwest’s seventh nonstop destination from Jacksonville. The carrier currently serves Atlanta, Baltimore, Denver, Houston (Hobby), Chicago (Midway), Nashville and Las Vegas (on a seasonal basis). In this new schedule, travelers will also see additional daily frequency to both Nashville and Baltimore.

“Both Dallas and Nashville are significant connecting points for Southwest flights as well, giving local travelers additional options when traveling to the West Coast ,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Steve Grossman said.

For Northeast Florida travelers, this represents the 10th city the airport has added to its route map since April of this year. Other cities include Asheville, Columbus, Indianapolis, Nassau, Memphis, New Orleans, Richmond, St. Louis and Toronto.
