More than 7.6 million passengers flew through Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) in 2024, making it the busiest year ever in the facility’s history.
The boost in activity represents a 2.8 percent increase over 2023, which was the airport’s previous high water mark for passenger traffic. An estimated 7.4 million passengers flew out of JAX that year.
“Our passenger volume continues to increase as Northeast Florida and the local economy grow,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) CEO Mark VanLoh said. “Airlines have taken note, adding frequencies, cities and larger aircraft at JAX.
Because of the sustained growth in passengers, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) undertook several major infrastructure projects, several of which will complete in the coming years. A third concourse, Concourse B, will add six new gates, additional concessions and passenger amenities. A third car parking garage will add approximately 2,000 new parking spaces for travelers. Both projects are estimated for completion in Q4 2026. An expanded security checkpoint with new screening technology and additional lanes opened in late 2023.
This year two new airlines will begin operating at JAX. Avelo Airlines will fly nonstop to New Haven, Connecticut starting February 14. Air Canada will offer daily flights to Toronto beginning on May 23. Allegiant Airlines will provide year-round service to Akron/Canton, Des Moines and Grand Rapids beginning in May. Breeze Airways will also fly nonstop to New Haven. Both airlines currently operate at JAX.
