October 28, 2015: Jacksonville businessmen Jay Demetree and Russ Thomas have been appointed to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) Board of Directors by Mayor Lenny Curry.
Demetree, a Jacksonville native, is president and CEO of Demetree Brothers, Inc., a leading full-service real estate developer and property manager based in Jacksonville, serving clients throughout Florida and the Southeast. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management.
Demetree will serve a full term until September 30, 2019.
Thomas is Chief Executive Officer of Jacksonville-based Availity, a health care business that provides solutions to a growing network of more than 900,000 physicians and allied care providers, 2,700 hospitals, and more than 600 technology partners with health plans nationwide. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia.
Thomas, who is filling the unexpired term of former board member Ernie Isaac, will serve until September 30, 2017.
JAA's Board of Directors is comprised of seven members who serve four-year terms. Four are appointed by the governor of Florida and three by the mayor of Jacksonville.
