KCI Aviation and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority broke ground today on construction of a new 30,000 square foot building at Cecil Airport on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The aviation authority expects to finish the building in March 2013 and lease it to KCI.

KCI, based in West Virginia, picked Jacksonville as “the best place to grow our business” in the Southeast market because of its skilled workforce, company President Chuck Koukoulis said.

KCI does maintenance and repair of corporate aircraft. The company plans to hire 30 employees in Jacksonville by the end of 2014. KCI also has a maintenance operation in Oklahoma.
